As a teenager the first record I bought was Time by ELO, so I discoverd music literally BY ELO. Out Of The Blue is probably their best album. It came out the very same year STAR WARS was released, which was the first movie I saw in a movie theater. And though this piece of music got that 70ies charme it´s timeless, exactly like Star Wars is.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has been one of my favorite musicals since I was a kid. There are 2 big choreography numbers. And both are in the first act of the musical. Alfie singing at the festival of remembrance is amazing.

Jeff spent some time in Switzerland trying to get over writer's block. It rained almost constantly and depressed him. He said when he saw the sun and blue sky, he so inspired he wrote "Mr Blue Sky" and 14 other songs. What a gift they have been to us. Oh, by the way an unaltered mind was needed to compose this masterpiece. 😊❤

The way the British accent doesn't close the words with hard sounds almost counters the tone of the song.

Best description of Avenue Q I ever heard was so simple and so accurate. "Sesame Street for Adults". This is my all time favorite Broadway show.

According to Wikipedia, when this was produced, ELO had seven members. But they probably used a lot of studio musicians in this production as well.

We watched this in drama class one day when the theater was being painted and we couldn't go in there, and my favorite bit is still the one where he's like '...cat.' CAUSE LIKE. ITS ONE CAT ITS SO FUNNY ...anyways this play very much gives me An Actor's Nightmare vibes and I think its a coincidence that this came up in my recommended since An Actor's Nightmare was my drama class final (I was Meg)

I've found over the years that while this album is often underrated against the more illustrious Floyd's releases, and because of the state of the band at this point (which made this album essentialy a solo project by Waters) it also showcases the peak of some of the most overlooked aspects of the band's songwriting. Mainly Roger's poetry, which was by now as sharp as it could be. Some of these lyrics will easily move you to tears.

I will stand by this. British and Aussie accents just do not work for this song. The ends of the words just arent sharp enough for the tone. At least in my opinion. Im probably aloje because im not a music person. Feels wild to say though

If any good came out of Leap of Faith being a big flop Warren Leight wanted to work together with Raúl again and wrote a character that he thought would showcase his abilities. He wasn't wrong either, what was only going to be a four episode guest star role turned into a six season regular.

The name is "Louis Clark Senior" - folks... Also "Richard Tandy" were all part of the writing these orchestral bits. Jeff wrote the words and melody of the song and produced the record and of course had the genius to hire Louis Clark Senior and combine orchestra with his songs. (he plays by ear and does not read music in the classical sense.)

This has to be one of my favorite musicals of all time. It does a great job of building the already beautiful music from the Disney movie and transform it into something even better. It’s darker than the Disney movie, but it also keeps the hopefulness and light.

Honestly and sadly I genuinely believe it’s a height thing. For Hollywood (and yes Broadway is absolutely influenced by Hollywood bc that’s how they sell the tickets with “famous people” to have their bucket list moment) height still (and stupidly) matters and he’s too short for them at 5’10”. He is head and shoulders more talented than those that have gone on to replace him on Broadway or in movies bc 1. They are already famous so they bring what the marketers consider to be a bigger draw; and 2. They visually “look the part”. Both of these i believe to be holkywood's own stupidity getting in their own way. JJ is one of thousands that are overqualified and incredibly talented and likely will never receive the recognition deserved.

This movie is a real magical spectacle, especially seeing it for the first time as a kid.

After she died, her sister got her work published - that’s why no one at the party pays any attention to her, including the cameraman (most of the time she’s on screen you only see part of her face) it’s a great, subtle running joke. Sean & Sinead are absolutely brilliant writers.

This show is so much better than almost everything on tv. If you know nothing about any of these authors the show is really good, but the more you know about them the better it gets. Heck, just read the Wikipedia entry for each author after the first episode of this and you’ll get more of the jokes going forward. Plus you’ll learn something. Win-win.
